The Palazzo Pesaro Papafava belonged to the noble Pesaro family (owners of the eponymous palace on the Grand Canal that used to serve as the Doge's residence and now the Museum of Modern Art).

The Palazzo was bestowed with its current name in 1625 when the daughter of the Doge, Pesarina, married Count Boniface Papafava, Knight of the Order of the Redeemer. The effigies in marble just inside the residence.

The Palazzo Pesaro Papafava is a fine example of architecture from the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Centuries. Built in true Gothic style, it stands out for its stunning facade overlooking the Fondamenta della Misericordia, in front of the Abbey Church and the Scuola Grande della Misericordia.
